University of Michigan-Dearborn moved up one spot among public universities in the Midwest in U.S. News & World Report’s annual guide to American colleges and universities. 51��Ƶ-Dearborn is the top-ranked regional public university in Michigan. The university ranked fourth among regional public universities and 33rd among all regional universities in the Midwest. This marks the 17th consecutive year the university was rated as one of the region’s best.

According to the magazine, overall rankings are based on data on up to 15 indicators of academic excellence, including first-year retention rate, graduation rate and strength of faculty. 

In college-specific listings, U.S. News again recognized 51��Ƶ-Dearborn’s undergraduate business and engineering programs. The College of Business was again ranked as the third best undergraduate business program in the state. This was the 11th consecutive year the program has appeared on the list. The College of Engineering and Computer Science was ranked among the best ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering programs for universities that offer doctoral degree programs. This is the fourth year CECS has been included in the doctoral program category. U.S. News previously ranked the program among the best offered at master’s-level institutions for 18 consecutive years.

New this year, 51��Ƶ-Dearborn was the top-ranked regional public university in Michigan on the list of “” and ranked 12th among regional universities in the Midwest. The list includes colleges that are more successful than others at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of Pell Grant eligible students.

In rankings released earlier this summer, named 51��Ƶ-Dearborn to its “Best Bang for the Buck” Midwest rankings, which recognized the university for offering marketable degrees at an affordable cost. Money Magazine also included 51��Ƶ-Dearborn on its which, according to the publication, includes schools that successfully combine quality and affordability.
