Several observers spotted the bird as it made its way through the woods and open water below the dam at the Henry Ford Estate.
"It might just stick around for a while if the fishing remains good," said Rick Simek, program supervisor and natural areas manager for the Environmental Interpretive Center.
Simek said to look for a large, bulky bird with a six-foot wingspan, massive beak, and white head and tail.
The bird has eluded photographers so far; if you snap a photo, be sure to send it our way.
