Welcome to the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where we put students’ dreams into practice!
I am honored to be serving as interim chancellor. 51Ƶ-Dearborn is truly my professional home, where I have served in various capacities for more than 25 years. Our university’s “Mission First – People Always” philosophy always remains top of mind for me. Supporting our tremendous students, faculty and staff to do their absolute best in their academic, research, extracurricular and community endeavors is not only my top priority, but my passion.
51Ƶ-Dearborn was recently recognized as a top-tier “” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. While this is a new classification, it reinforced something we have long known: At 51Ƶ-Dearborn, students receive a world-class, affordable education that will propel them into rewarding careers and help them make a meaningful impact on the world around them.
The Carnegie Foundation has also recognized 51Ƶ-Dearborn as an R2 institution. From making the cars we drive safer to exploring new ways to fight deadly diseases like Legionnaires and tuberculosis, our faculty are devising solutions to some of the most pressing challenges of our region, state and broader society. Our students directly benefit from these research endeavors through enhanced instruction and hands-on experiences with faculty who are leaders in their fields.
With more than 95% of our employed graduates working in Michigan, we are a vital driver of our region’s workforce and economy. We also support our surrounding community through a range of partnerships, programs and community-engaged learning opportunities.
It is a privilege for me to lead the university as we work together to advance the success of our students and of southeast Michigan.
